In order to initiate effective breastfeeding and care of baby after delivery, it is important to start counselling during pregnancy. Pregnant mothers are visiting health centers for ante natal check-up regularly in our area but usually not counsel on breastfeeding and parenting. We invite pregnant mothers in small groups (10-15) and our nurses and doctors explain details on the preparedness of breastfeeding as well as care of baby. We also invite available family members in such program so that all are familiar with the possible problems on breastfeeding after delivery and its solutions. We also provide brochures and link to our breastfeeding video along with our contact details so that they can contact us. Proper counsel on baby care after delivery will enable mother to seek help whenever required and also familiar with the local health resources.
